What is CTP ?
CTP (Cytoplasmic Transduction Peptide) developed by CreaGene’s unique technology.
It was developed through molecular modeling of PTD (Peptide Transduction Domain) in HIV-1 TAT protein, known to effectively transport genes, antisense oligonucleotide and proteins into the nucleus.
Characteristics of CTP
CTP can transport attached bio-molecules like nucleic acids or proteins into the cell with high permeation efficiency, 2 to 5 times better than PTD.
Since NLS (nuclear localization signal) of the PTD has been modified so as not to transport substances into the nucleus, CTP can minimize gene damage caused by attached bio-molecules by keeping them in the cytoplasm not in the nucleus.
CTP shows much less cytotoxicity than other cell penetration peptide such as PTD or poly-Arg.
Especially, CTP shows the specific tropism to the liver and lymph node in mouse models.
Applications of CTP
- DDS (Drug Delivery System)
CTP technology is very valuable for DDS in the case of biologically active materials to be effective as medicine in the cytoplasm, because CTP can transport effectively high molecular weight substances only up to the cytoplasm.
Substances transported with CTP can have great effects with only small amounts due to the improved membrane permeability. Especially, when a certain substance can cause abnormality in genes, the inability to pass into the nucleus is an absolutely valuable trait.
The specific tropism of CTP to the liver and lymph node can be used as drug delievery method to those organs.
