Dillenia suffruticosa has been traditionally used to treat cancerous growth. In our study, extracts of D. suffruticosa exhibit very potential anti-cancer properties both in in vitro and in vivo models. The extract does not cause any toxicity effects to the studied animals. The extracts also possess strong anti-oxidant activities. One of the bioactive compounds found in the extract is betulinic acid, which has been reported previously as a very potent anti-cancer agent. Based on the data collected, a product called DS Factor, as a supplement believed to help enhance the healing process of cancer, has been formulated. DS Factor has a great market potential since people are turning into natural products as an alternative for management of cancer due to some limitations of the use of modern medicine such as adverse effects and costly.
