Release issued 8th March 2001
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued a call for proposals to study the immunogenicity of the current US anthrax vaccine.
CAMR successfully answered the call by putting together a joint proposal in conjunction with the Battelle Memorial Institute from Columbus Ohio and bidding for part of the programme. As recognition of its expertise in understanding anthrax vaccines the Centre has been asked to undertake a programme of work worth $6.9 million over 5 years. CAMR is the licensed manufacturer of the current UK anthrax vaccine.
Commenting on the award Dr Peter Hambleton, CAMR's Director of Production, stated : "The work is a great opportunity for CAMR to partner with a major US Government contractor and enhances the Centre's reputation for excellence in vaccine research and manufacture with this significant award."
CAMR will primarily be involved in the analytical programme of work by supplying know-how and technology developed in the UK and by performing some of the tests.
